Q10351 - HOWTO: How to export a MS SQL 2005 database created in a local MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition?

Important: If you have MS SQL Server Management Studio Standard Edition you do not need to do this setup and you should be able to export your database to our server using the DTSwizard. If you have MS SQL 2005 Express Edition please read the following information.

 

To export a database created in MS SQL 2005 Express Edition you must download the MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit which include the DTSwizard. This tool is used to export and import database between SQL Servers 2005.

Once is installed follow these steps to execute the DTSwizard to transfer the database from your source to our SQL Server:

 

1.     Go to the folder installation of MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit to execute the DTSwizard. In an standard installation the path to the executable file is:

 

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn

 

2.     Click DTSWizard.exe

 

The wizard will start asking for your SQL server source and you should be able to complete the following steps successfully.
